i have given up with this for the moment. Those RCV joints are horrendously dear and aren't too good by looking at some reviews of them. Looks like the axle is definately a dana ttb but I still havent had any luck finding a CV joint stockist... only the 'U' joint types.

Hi Paddy, yes i did click on your post and saw the CV joints that you are refering too. They are nearly $2000 + shipping to england! That means by the time they are shipped to the uk you can add another $500 of customs and revenue (tax), on this end when it enters the country!
As for the axle conversion... great idea but american 4x4 truck axles over here are devilish to come by....
