89 F150 parts/ ZF5 2WD Transmission

Category: Drivetrain
Price: $0
Private or Vendor Listing: Private Listing
Part fits (you may select multiples): Prelude, Fit, S2000, CL, TL & Vigor, Motorcycles
Item Condition: MI
Shipping Information: Item can be shipped
Engine: Part suitable for gas truck

I have a parts truck that is going to be scrapped soon. It's a 89 F150 XLT (interior is gone though). It does have the power doors and windows. The body is pretty shot and the frame isn't in good shape either, but it does have a 300 I6 and 5 speed M5OD transmission in it that i was told are good. I'll try to turn the motor over by hand if anyone is interested, but the wire harness has been cut so you won't be able to hear it run. Other than the body parts and most of the interior missing, it is pretty complete. I was told it has a new clutch in it as well.

If interested in anything, feel free to send an offer.

Also have a ZF S5-42 2Wd (wide ratio with crawler first gear) transmission for sale. I bought it from a junkyard who told me it worked fine when pulled, and seems to go through the gears just fine. Will work behind the 300I6, or 302 or 351W V8 and is rated to 420 lb ft of torque. It's complete minus the shifter, and has been stored indoors.
Asking $500 for that.

I'll try to get some pics soon.

If you're in Michigan, feel free to check some stuff out, or I can ship cross-country if interested.

Thanks!

Cory

I have 2 different 5 speeds. One is the light duty m5OD found in f150s. 5 gears, 5th is overdrive (.8:1). Looking for $150 for this one.

Other trans is the heavy duty ZF trans found in f250s and f350s. $500

Thanks!

What makes the m5od so much the light weight? can it be built up for better durability?

Around 300 lb ft is the rumored breaking point. Do you have more power than that?

If you're not hauling a ton of weight then the m5 should be fine for you. I do enjoy the 5.72:1 crawler first gear of the zf-5, though.

I do. It is a different unit than my 95 though, so hopefully it's the right one for your truck. I can get you some pics tomorrow if you'd like. As far as price, want to make an offer? Ill ship as well. Thanks!
