DIYiT's F-250 Build Thread
#91
Sorry, no updates yet. I can't even remember how long it's been since I've done any work on the truck. It looks like I was still troubleshooting the no-start issue on the last day of August in 2013. Since then, I have got that fixed, but it has sat pretty much for 2-1/2 years while I was gone, didn't have room for it, it had a bad battery and leaking tire, and it was continually un-insured since I drove it so little.
The good news is, a week ago I called up the insurance company and got coverage back on it. My wife and I bought a house this fall and while I don't have a big enough garage for all three vehicles, we've decided the wife's car will sit out for now while I have both trucks in the garage. I got it loaded up with firewood (our house came with an outdoor wood furnace/boiler for domestic heat) and made the trip to my own house and got it out of my dad's yard for the first time in 2 years.
Driving it 300 miles reminds me how bad the steering is and that I really need to get my Dana 60 build completed, swap in the axle, install the RSK, swap to Super Duty leaf springs, and then start working on a piggy-back MegaSquirt system so that I can actually use the supercharger (I don't trust the FMU and additional fuel pump since it goes lean while heavy on the throttle).
However, driving it is still fun. Man I've missed the ol' V8. (Ecoboost personal truck and 57k miles on the company truck in a little over a year: '14 F150 w/ 3.7 V6). I do miss the modern 6 speed transmission while driving it though.
