Today was a great day for me. I am 14 and I bought my first truck for 500 bucks. One of the tanks needs a new pump, and I have yet to get her to start without ether, but I think needs new spark plugs. When i went to get it, we brought it home with a little faith and a tow strap. The keys were already in it, so I didn't much think about it. When I got home though, the key wouldn't come out!! It would turn to the off position, but it stops there. It won't let me turn it to the lock position. Oh yeah, 87 f150 2wd manual with a 302. Can anyone help?
If i remember correctly, there is a key lock/release lever that you have to push/hold to allow you to turn the key back so you can remove it. Look towards the bottom left hand side of the steering column.
Yup, should be a little black lever/button looking piece on the left underside of the steering column. Push that in, and turn the key back to remove it.
And just to add a bit more as it took me a minute to figure out when I first got my 91. If your truck has a tilt wheel and you can't figure it out, just push forward on the turn signal lever and the wheel will unlock and can be moved up and down.
