Bilstein 5100s or BTS series on a stock 250

Questions regarding shocks:
(I’ve already "read up" here but still not sure, hoping for some real world user response).<O</O
Truck is: 2008 F250 XLT Extended cab. 50K miles. Stock suspension, no lift, newer stock 265/17 tires.<O</O
I have a last minute road trip at the end of this week so I need to overnight these shocks tomorrow. I don’t want to do the trip with the factory junk shocks. I’m trying to get rid of the lack of dampening when hitting a bump(s) at highway speeds (washboarding). Also if one of the front tires hits the bump before the other (not parallel) the truck will jerk to one side. Worse when going over a curved flyover at highway speeds. (Waiting for the death wobble ) The steering linkages are all tight with stock stabilizer.<O</O
I had my mind set on 5100s. But reading the shock warehouse web site it sounds like they are more geared to off road trucks with some suspension mods (Lift.). I do like the plated vs painted.<O</O
The BTS (yellow & blue) sound like they are more geared towards highway travel?
I don’t mind spending a few extra bucks on the 5100s but will they dampen the highway washboard oscillations Im trying to get rid of and be overkill or will the BTS be better suited?<O</O
Lastly is there any discount codes from FTE? If so where?<O</O

Have you looked at the Rancho RS9000XL adjustable shocks? They are liked by many FTE members.

As for the discount code, see the link below.

Thanks, good suggestion but I dont want to spend 500 on shocks right now...laid-off. So the Bilsteins look more attractive from a price point and their stainless. Unless the BTSs are what I want which are even cheaper.

I have the 5100's on mine, I do mostly highway/city driving with it and some light off roading and they do great for both applications. I feel the truck is nice and tight with these shocks compared to others I have used in the past.

Excellent. Thanks all. I just ordered the 5100s. Should be here tomorrow had to O.N. them for an extra $50. $382 out the door includes the 50 O.N. ship charge.

If you find yourself on really washboard(ey) highways/backroads a monotube is a great fit. They will "absorb" those bumps amazingly. Some people do find a montube to be too firm in general. It took me a bit to get used to them going from our adjustable RSD9000XL's, which I had on a soft setting, but I LOVE them!
We also have a very popular one the RS7000MT monotube. These, like the Bilstein, are zinc plated.

Good luck in your choice. I do know that with the holidays around the corner, a lot of retailers will have strong deals.

If money is tight then just get the front shocks for now. I have the Bilsteins now and like them, next time I will try the Rancho 9000's.
