catalytic converter question

I would like to remove my catalytic converter on my 1994 f150 302 but do not want the cel on because of it. I am curious as to what the best way to remove the cat is with out causing trouble with the cel and the computer shooting codes. Thanks for the help.

It's a 94. The computer doesn't even know if there are converters or not.

Look behind your cat. If there is NO O2 sensor then you wont have a CEL. 1994 shouldn't have one.

Seems the older the vehicle, the easier to work on or modify. Ah, for the good old days. The new vehicles are appliances on wheels.

Cat(s) Delete ?

My 94 F150 5.0 was sold new in California.I'd like to delete the rear cat at least (maybe both cats)and keep the stock muffler.
I'm not looking to make it louder,I just want some performance and gas mileage gains.
The guy at the muffler shop says no problem BUT,the air pump has a pipe going into the rear cat and it'll make popping sounds when the engine is cold.
Is there any good way around that short of the headache of pulling the air pump too,or should I just leave it alone.
I have to do this low buck style as I'm now on a fixed income.

Yeah, easy, leave it alone. If its not broke don't fix it. The cat does not rob economy or performance if it is working correctly.

The front or pre-cat is used in conjunction with the rear or oxidizing cat, so long as the catalysts are not damaged or melted there is nothing to gain (maybe 1hp), of all the catalyst designs the monolithic core seems to be the best choice so if you are so inclined check out the Walker Super Converters w/air. Use a temp gun to determine if you have converter issues, if you have high temps at the front of a converter and low temps at the back there is great chance of restriction but if the temps are staying pretty constant throughout the exhaust then it is working just fine.
The A.I.R. Air Injection Reactor system only makes the converter work better so don't get rid of it... but if you do you can eliminate the AIR pump and use an 84.5" short belt.. cheers.

Thanks,I'd decided to leave the cats alone. It runs fine as is.
I have to sell the truck.I love it but the standard cab is just too cramped for me.
Is anyone interested in a really nice truck?
