Front and rear diff oil??
While I have a long week off of work. I thought it would be a good idea to change my front and rear diff oil. What are you guys running in your trucks? Never done this before. But it looks pretty straight forward and easy. Is there anything I should watch out for or look at while I got the diff covers off? Maybe a little diff cover paint job while I got it off. what is used to seal it up and torque specs for the bolts. I have a habit of taking things to Mantown and breaking stuff. Ha ha ha
On a side note: my wife text me at lunch the other day and told me I had a surprise. So naturally I started brainstorming what it could be. I was surprised alright!! She rear ended someone, and totally smashed the front of her 05 Lincoln navigator. It pushed everything back so the two front doors won't open. Everyone is fine, but I was speechless!! I'm hoping it totals the car out so I can get her an excursion with the good ol 7.3 in it. Of course she wants a white one.

I use regular old 80-90 dino lube in mine. With the 350 it will be pretty straight forword, pull the covers and let it drain. On a 250 with the TTB it is a different story, as the front has to pretty much dismantled, as it doesn't have a cover that is removable, the pumpkin has to be removed. It probably wouldn't hurt to hose the housing out with brake cleaner before installing the new lube.
I hear you on the 7.3 Excursion, I have been oggling them on Ebay, but they sure are proud of the low milage ones!

Easy enough. It's limited slip. Just took a quick look. How much do I put in and where. I think I saw some type of plug on top, is that where I fill it up. Sorry for the stupid little questions. Just want to make sure I do this correctly. Thanks for the help.

Yup, thats your fill plug. Just fill it till a little oozes from the hole. Some guys pull the VSS to fill, it's a bit of a pain to fill at the plug.

That's the best way to do it, in my opinion. Pull the fill plug, pull the VSS, and fill through the VSS hole until the fluid runs out of the fill plug. Then, reinstall the VSS and the fill plug.
