Modding a 7.3 for extreme cold...what should be done?
I am moving to Alaska on May 30 next year and will be buying another 7.3 4x4 crew cab short bed to go with me.
I am wondering what all needs to be done to keep the truck reliable in extreme cold.
Is the factory block heater good enough?
Can someone recommend what to use for an oil pan and transmission pan heater?
Are there any other mechanical parts I should consider keeping warm?
How important is synthetic fluids and what all should be changed over?
Ideally I would like to have all of my heaters plugged or connected to some kind of artic rated box and then have each individual heater controlled by a switch so I could pick and choose what I want to keep warm and how much I want to run my electric bill up.
What options are there for cab heaters? And is it a good idea to have a trickle charger for the batteries wired into all the others as well? Fuel bowl heater?
I've never ran a diesel for extended periods of time below zero. I do plan to get an idle controller and a cover for the grill.
What else am I missing? Advice or comments on how to get it all wired up? What parts should I use?

First thing I think of is Marinco Mod.
And these guys have an awesome catalog of warm-it-up goodies.
Hopefully one of the cold state fellas will chime in...
