thought this was quite interesting reading about the pumps...I'm wondering if My pre filter is too restrictive... I'd find that hard to believe, but I have a 150 micron pre I can slap on there to see if it helps with cavitation, if that is truly the issue.

10 miles.
Travis said he drove quite a way with none.he believes the injectors when firing put a little draw and together a properly built system will run with no pump.
Obviously be careful but I got home with no I'll noticible affects.that was months ago.
Big congrats on the little one!!!best thing I have ever been involved with.

Well a tow cost is 30% of a set of injectors...so I think I'll go ahead and give it a shot. Its all very slow going on the way, I'll turn on my hazards just go slow.

Yeah no kidding. I have never been towed except for once in high school...I thought they were mistaken on location when I heard that... Need to quit my day job and just start a towing business!

Hopefully you get the fuel pump issue figured out. I would suspect the oil pressure switch as well, but without knowing how the wiring kit you have is put together I can't say for sure that bypassing it will or will not make a difference.

Congratulations man! Game changer indeed, but it is a blessing you will never forget.

I bypassed the switch at lunch, still nothing. The reason I believe it's the pump is I ran a set of cables directly to the pump without a result. 12v should have made it do sonething. The harness is a strictly diesel harness. Key on the pump should prime., it doesn't. Only thing left to do is jumper the bowl heater connection for my key on power and see. Doubtful though.
Made it home, never went over 1500 rpm or 600 degrees on the pyro, so I hope that and the 2 smoke oil in the fuel kept the injectors happy. Barely touched the skinny pedal. Only time will tell I guess.

If the pump has failed it sounds like the motor in the pump went, not the pump itself. I don't think cavitation would cause the motor to fail. So... I don't think you did anything wrong. What size pre-filter are you running? If I ever get around to finishing my DIY kit, I have a 30 micron filter I was going to use.

Congrats man! This is a good time to get things lined up with the truck and then take a step back for a while; learn what the little peanut is doing day by day instead. A new born is special, but the preceding 9 months are equally as interesting! Lots going on in there every day!
