Cheap rocker panel repairs
Well, im not much of a picture taker, but below are a fe photos of rocker panel repair i did a little over 18 months ago. First photo is looking at the truck from the side. I am kneeling so you can see that the rocker panel is barely visible if you are standing. What i did it cut the rocker panel horizontally about 3/8 inch below the lip under the door. The panel slops at a 45 degree angle under the door back to the frame vertical plat. I cut the rocer panel at that end also along the plate. Removed a section of rotted metal about 3 inches wide and as long as both door (Crew cab). Second photo is the camera laying on the ground 12 nches from the truck looking up over the running board. YOu can see i added a 3 x 3 steel "plate" about 14 gauge back into positon where i removed the rocker panel. I put one of these plates ever 16-18 inches to support the top of the rocker where you step on it. I left the other 90% of the rocker removed and cleand, wire brush, scraped.. the porock the rust to seal, then painted rustoleum, then painted black or spray tar depending on what area you see. Hard to see the last photo laying under the truck looking up. YOu can see a couple of the cab braces were rotted thru. I just cut off teh bad part and porock on the rusted part to seal it up.
