hood alignment and springs
I am having trouble getting my hood to close properly. I can get the driver side to align and close. But the passenger side wont close properly. Is there a way to align this? Also my hood wont stay up when open. Is the springs at fault? Or the hood? My truck is starting to get there. woo hoo.

1. go to the blue band above.
2. click "search v" in the center of the blue band
3. click advanced search in the dropdown menu
4. put "hood hinges" in keywords (alternate search keywords: "hood hokey pokey")
5. put AXracer in user name
6. highlite this forum in the search forum box
7. click search.
8. read thru the posts until you find one or more of several where I refer to adjusting the hood, the hidden hinge pivot, and the picture of it in my gallery.
Your hinges, springs may be damaged from abuse but more likely one or more of the pivots are stiff or frozen, especially the hidden one and/or the hinges are not installed properly. If there is not a safety wire thru the attachment bolts the later is a good possibility. Third possibility is most don't understand how they worked when new. They never held the hood open more than ~ 45*, enough to check fluids etc without wind catching it and folding it back against the windshield or being up too high to reach to close. It will open further for extensive under hood work, but you will need to prop it open with a broomstick etc to keep it up that high.
