ok... besides the obvious legal issues, i cant get a strait answer anywhere, will low sulfur 500ppm diesel make more power in a dyno test? if yes, how much? i'm just wondering from a strictly race point of view.

also, what other ways are there to get more bang out of the fuel, i've read adding used motor oil or hydrolic fluid might, or is that just for lube for the hpop and injectors?

One grease wizard's results may not necessarily be repeatable by another.

With the minimal differences between the fuels being burned at their happiest parameters imho .. power/horsepower increases are possible... but in small and varying measureable amounts depending on the mix.

I wouldnt rely on it to win any races.

 

yeah, thats kinda what im figuring. if i ever get on a dyno i might set up a second tank to do a comparison just to see but it's not really important. i've seen and heard so many people talk about how they run this and its a big power increase, or pour that into there tank and it runs sooooo much better... i guess if i get around to it, i'll find out one day lol. it would be nice to see on paper what if any difference stuff does, like that fuel additive chart somebody came up with for lubrication on here.

 

Low sulfur diesel is not good for your engine. Add a lubricant, according to the study that I read a while back, 2%-5% biodiesel is by far the best fuel lubricant out there.

 

Low sulphur diesel, if you can get it, has more sulphur than ULSD, which is what you get at the pump today. ULSD has 15ppm, whereas LSD has 500ppm.

 

Only in California is that true....


I have burned HUNDREDS of gallons of OLD diesel, stuff that sat around from the 80's and 90's, in my PSD's and they loved ever drop of it. It had a noticeable boost in power, and smoke.....

Might not be very scientific but short of running on a dyno I think it has more power.

I live in the forsaken state of California, ULSD is all we get. Glad you get to run the good stuff.....for now.

 

cali ulsd is Oxaginated too..when i was over the road I,We the company I worked for told us to avoid buying fuel in cali...as far as i know,, you can no longer get low sulfer diesel,,they don't make it any more...diesel 1, (kerosene) same as stove oil.. ,diesel 2,same as furnace oil,and dyed(off road)diesel..Jet A and winter JetA1 are lighter oils than D1 less btu...industrial mineral oil is higher ctane than D2 and if you could get a suply of it would make fantastic blending fuel..
