What are the volt readings on a new FICM.

My FICM runs at 48v at start up but runs between 48v-46.5v when driving. Does this mean its on its way out. FLP power is at 13.5v and FVP power is at 13.5v. I just installed two new battery's last week.

48 is the standard, but the range is 45-49 volts.

I got nervous and bought new one when it dropped below 43 , it tends to slowly only get worse.

Are using Torque or DashBoss to get the FICM readings?

Josh

At 30 degree today outside, FICM was reading 42 right after startup, then it raises to 46, 47 after glow plug do their job, then it plays between 45 to 47.5. I will check it again after it warms up.

Anything below 45 is considered a failed FICM. I would say you are on borrowed time if you are seeing 42 volts.

As a FWIW reference point, my truck seems (knock on wood) to have a healthy FICM. Monitor voltages with Scangauge, cold start at freezing shows 48 - 49 volts from start-up through the glow plug phase and normal running is 48.5 - 49 volts.

I've seen my cousins 07 read 51v at start and running, and its all stock. My truck seams to run great but was under the impression once the volts start to drop below 48v it was on its way out.

Anything below 45, not 48, is a failing or failed FICM and needs to be repaired. Sometimes a failed FICM doesn't drop below 48V and still has failed.

Thanks bullitt390, I will check this out pretty close. I think I even saw 39 just after start up, I tought it could drop below 45 until glow plugs where done??

I will check my battery voltage too. I am checking this out because I noticed a few misses and rough running for a short period after start up when the wheather was around 23 F.

I have read the teck folder and it shows how to check the FICM at the 4 screws. As I understand you can fix a low voltage by resoldering?

Anything below 45 volts at ANY time is considered a failed FICM.

I would send my failed FICM to ficmrepair.com and have Ed work his magic. I have fairly good knowledge of electrical work and soldering, plus i am a cheap ******* and even I wouldn't attempt to repair my own FICM

So I'm ok because mine stays between 46.5v and 48v. I've never seen below 46.5v at any time. I was just trying to catch it early to have Ed on it before it went completely south.
