Rebuilding E4OD
#541
great web site.
I would like to thank all those who make this site available to all of us who keep trying to make our Fords better. I want to wish Dieselzen a good season and ask him for the very popular file has has given to many while i have watched trying to get one also. I have waited to rebuild my E4OD on the 97 F250 4X4 with much anticipation. I have the torque converter and rebuilt kit (without the steel) ready to go and await the zip file.
Thank you Dieselzen ahead of time for this fileI used to be on this site years ago but have been busy keeping old Fords running. now i am down to 2 vehicles.
My age is not slowing me down as I continue to learn even at 71.
Keep the faith, orygun202

Desperately need help now
i have a 1996 f150 4x4 Eddie Bauer with 192k
My trans (e4od) acts like it's in limp mode
No lights flashing (had a column from 94 f150 put in
It had o/d button and light)
No dash lights on either. I replaced neutral
Safety switch and cleaned vss and un hooked
Negative battery post for 15 min
Truck hard shifts and does NOT have passing gear if I floor it my engine
Revs up but truck won't go until I let off
Throttle a bit. Truck shifted fine when I first got it
Also sprayed contact cleaner on
Safety switch plug, throttle sensor, and plug on trans (round plug)

Is this Zip file and info still available?
I have a 91 F250 5.8 2WD I use to haul a few trailers and junk
The trans shift fine in all forward gears, but on cold mornings takes a while to go in forward gear, after tht it's good for the day, plus reverse gets a lil slip when warm.
I bought on the cheap a E4OD from a 93 F150 4.9 with low miles, the guy tore it down building a race truck..the linkage is different but easily do-able when i turn the linkage upside down and drill a hole for the 91 manual rod linkage..
The major problem is the 93 trans doesn't have the ring machined into the tail shaft for the VSS(speedomoter cable) for the 91...they it in the rear differential
i'd like to stay cheap as possible,so i am thinking of swapping out the shafts to make it work with my VSS,i've been told the trans won't shift right without it
From what i've researched is the whole guts of the trans has to come out in order to change to change that shaft
