Another Style Wheel for the GTP-38?

I've got a GTP-38 that i'm rebuilding and was just hunting around on ebay
for some wish-list parts.
I came across this and I have to admit - I'm rather curious...
I'm already planning on getting an upgraded housing, but....
has anyone seen an 11 blade wheel, that's not a WW - and all uniformly spaced?

Unique for sure, looks like the Japanese billet wheels. Cast generally has a better following. Sort of reminds me of a knock off batmowheel without the edges and those didn't fair too well in the 7.3 market.

yea, I've seen the batmowheel - definitely a unique thing.
But so is this I guess :P If the price was a little more reasonable (not to mention the shipping) I'd try it out... Can't quite justify $200 for just the wheel, without any references...

Dang it - The seller altered the link - so I modified my first post.
There's some other borg warner wheel in it's place now, and that wheel isn't on his site...
(possible both wheels sold???)
At least Alan know's I'm not crazy for this post since he saw it last night :P
I shot an email to seller to get more information on that wheel though.

My guess was, after looking into MFS, a possible "copy". If you look into them, they would do a small minimum order if you sent an OE wheel.

It appears the company if it is one, MFS, would "copy" any wheel you send them in a full billet version with some adaptations. But I hadn't ever heard or seen them.

I wish I had taken a screen shot, but from what I do recall,
it was an 11 fin (oe is 9, WW is 10 I believe.) and it was for an 88mm housing - meaning, it would almost require an aftermarket housing, I think the stock is 80mm (Am I correct on that?)

Like I said - it (still) has my interest - I'd love to learn more about that wheel...
I know the amount of fins do not necessarily mean more air or boost, I was just curious how this design came about.

Ok, so the part is back up on ebay.
MFS Compressor Wheel GTP38 Threaded Bore Reverse | eBay

Can anyone give some insight into this thing?
And I stand corrected - it looks like it'll fit into a factory housing.

My thoughts: Skip it. Forget about it.

1. The compressor is limited by the inducer bore. Putting a different compressor wheel in the same size hole isn't going to change the absolute volume of air that the compressor can move.

2. If, by some small chance of a miracle it does have the capability of moving more air, you're going to get a hell of a lot of surge with it. Additionally, the turbine housing still dictates the maximum airflow through the engine, so you won't make any airflow improvements with a compressor wheel change anyway.

3. Since the name of the game is faster turbocharger shaft acceleration, why would anyone in their right mind want a heavier than stock compressor wheel? A cast wheel weighs significantly less than ANY machined-from-billet compressor wheel on the market. By adding mass to the compressor wheel, it will take more force from the turbine wheel to spin the compressor resulting in slower spool times.

Why reinvent the wheel? I guess if you want something to pad your forum signature that really doesn't do anything, feel free. Don't let my opinions stop you.

For 1 and 2, I had already mentioned that I was going to get an upgraded housing, Likely ATS's at this point since they're just a few miles away...

3 on the otherhand was the kind of info I was looking for.
Thanks for the input.
I'm not looking for anything to "pad my sig" or anything for vanity.
It was something that I came across, and had a genuine curiousity about it.
