Whats a good way to tell if my pickup has a tune in it? What makes me think it does is that I just got a 2000 7.3 excursion for my wife and my pickup will walk all over it. The excursion is stock, and my pickup just has a 4" exhaust, cold intake, and a wicked wheel. I have an ae scan tool and not sure what to look for.
Go find the nearest highway and push the pedal to the floor while getting on the freeway and hold it there for a bit. Typically a tuner will trip a P1211 code. It also will have a P0603 or P0605 show up due to the tune.
Jody and Diane know this way better than I, but I believe the tuner "blankets" whatever tune is in there, you just need the code marked on the connector by the firewall. Contact them direct to be sure I don't lead you off to the weeds.
I suspected a canned tune and was right. Long story, but previous owner left a Superchips 1705 on my truck.
Anyway, I wasn't sure but when I started upgrading my truck I installed gauges, my boost was 21PSI WOT before I purchased my DP Tuner. Stock should be around 16ish.
Purchased DP F5 with stock on it and sure enough, hit about 16.5 WOT on stock tune.
22-24 80E WOT.
Your DP Tuner will override anything on your pcm once installed, your GTG.
