Maybe a project truck

The last few months a have seen a late 70s f150, not sure of the year, at a local "buy here pay here" lot. Never payed it much attention due to it's location at a BHPH lot and being in the "ghetto" didn't think it would be in good shape. Along with how long it has been sitting in the lot.
Finally got curious enough to drive by slowly and take a long look.
I was shocked, somebody had stole the rims and tires off the truck the second day on the lot. Had some large mud tires with fancy rims. Easy picking apparently. Been sitting on the drums and rotors for months. Without the wheels it appears to be normal hight. Looks like a 6 to 8 inch lift. The owner came out and told me all about it. Told me he would sell it cheap if I brought my own tires. He says he's protesting putting wheels back on due to the police lack of action.

Just walking around and sticking my head under the truck it looks real clean and no rust. No idea if it's been bondoed or not.
Truck looks identical to the truck Arnold stole at the beginning of terminator 3.

Im sure this thing has been mudded thats never good. I have no idea of the real value of these trucks. Do you think sitting on hard parts for months will ruin anything? Also are there any real problem parts on some of these trucks that really avoided? I don't know about the old trannys or engines.

Can you get us some pictures of it? How much is he asking for it? These trucks are valuable in my book and many others on here, it just depends on the condition and price. They are getting harder to find, but there are still a lot out there. We love to save them and this one sounds like it needs saved before he changes his mind and decides to cut his losses and send it to the junker. From your description, it sounds like it could be a great starter truck.

I agree. Sitting on the drums and rotors shouldn't hurt anything. The transmissions are about bullet proof. (manual or automatic) so, no worries there. The only "weak link" engine in my book is the 400. (some will disagree) As long as it starts and runs, throw some wheels on it and drive it.

Like junkyard asked, what's "cheap"?

I bought my first dent from a used car lot in the "ghetto" of North Philly. Just because it found it's way there, doesn't mean it's a bad truck.
