broke my wing window handle

i broke the handle/latch for my driver side wing window on my 84 tonight, is there a way to replace the handle without replacing the glass? the whole latch broke off with the stud going into the framing.

There's a roll pin that holds the handle in. If you drive that out, you can get out what's left of the handle. Then you can install another. Or is it worse than that?

If it broke that far back, then yes, you will need a new frame. That sucks.

tempting just to replace the entire door, i already need new hinge bushings for that door, the window rolls hard and the lock mechanism is all screwed up. now it needs a wing. has anyone else put the newer doors on the older trucks? i was thinking the heavier doors from the 92 to 96, that way i can have locking doors again and the doors are heavier.

I have the newer doors on my 86.

They fit fine. The only problem I had was minor. I have power door locks, and the rivet holding the door lock motor to the door scratched the paint on the cab. Just have to take a hammer and drive the rivet deeper into the door, no big deal. If you don't have PDL, then you have no worries.

I didn't know they were a heavier door than the originals.

I think I also had to drill a hole to fit the bracket for the inside door pull, but again that was minor.

not sure the exact year but i know somewhere in the 92-96 range they got an extra reinforcement for side impact in the door.
