The consensus is Motorcraft on a coolant sensor replacement. I have an aftermarket sensor and sender on my truck now. If I replace the sensor with Motorcraft, do I need to replace the sender with Motorcraft?
"Sender" and "sensor" are sometimes interchanged and most of the time mean the same part. What do you mean when you use these terms? Describe a little more what you are replacing.
I'm replacing the sensor which tells the truck it's temperature. I need to know if I need to replace the sender, which relays the temperature to the guages, with a Motorcraft part as well. Can I replace the sensor without replacing the sender?
The sensor and senser as you have described them are not aware of one another's existence. They will not care if one has been removed/replaced/etc. You don't have to replace the sender that feeds the dash gauge just because you replaced the sensor that speaks to the computer.
