a/c problems need help

Hey guys, I got a 92 150 with a 5.8L. My a/c used to work perfectly, one day it started blowing warm. The compressor kicks on and off at short intervals, I tried re-filling the system with refrigerate and the pressure held but still no cold air. I'm wondering what the problem is or how to narrow it down step by step. The air still blows, just the temp outside however. I'd appreciate any help given. Thanks!

When the system lost its charge it got air and moisture in the system, plus if you didn;t fix the leak what ever you put in will leak tight back out.

Find the leak.
Fix the leak.
Evacuate system
Properly charge

I didn't think it was leaking cause it held the charge? Not that I don't believe you just maybe an elaboration on why a leak? Also coverting to 134 would just take the conversion fittings, correct? Thank you for the input!!

When the a/c originally started short cycling it was because the refrigerant leaked out. If you did not fix the leak then any new refrigerant introduced has or will leak out. The air that has gotten into the system will raise the discharge pressure reducing cooling capacity. Any moisture in the system will tend to freeze in the orifice tube.

To convert to R-134a you will need to .
Have R12 removed.
Fix leak
flush system
Replace orifice tube(the screen is probably full of trash/debris)
install fittings
Evacuate system
charge system with R-134a
