Passenger side window motor problem (?)
Hey guys. Have a 2004 F150. Passenger side window motor problem. Window began only moving in the down position when the down button pressed. Won't go back up at all. Pulled the door panel and removed the entire regulator / motor assemble. Checked voltage. With the motor off but still connected to the wiring harness, it attempts to do down fine, just not up.
Checked voltage at the two pin connector where it plugs into the window motor. 12v showing on the one pin when the "up" button is pressed, 12v on the other pin when the "down" button is pressed. No brainer, right? Motor must be bad.
Ordered a replacement motor from Rockauto. Installed it today. Same exact thing as above. New motor goes fine in one direction but nothing in the other. I've checked voltage again at the pin connector where it plugs into the motor and I get 12v in the up position and 12v in the down position.
I'm stumped!
EDIT: 3:25pm May have made some headway but I'm still stumped. I gained access to the switch on the driver's side (master switch for all 4 windows). When pressing the down button on the main driver's side control (for the passenger front window), the motor merely makes a slight humming sound. My helper could feel the humming on the motor itself. It did this using either the new replacement motor or the old motor. Several taps to the switch, wiring harness, etc., and the motor would sporatically spin (with the button depressed). Sounds pretty clear something is going on with the driver's side (switch / housing / harness). Still, I need a good starting point. Thanks for any positive input!
