19.1 MPG!

Seattle to Eugene,OR. Best-MPG-Yet! Better than our Jeep Liberty. Even better than the LIE-O-METER!

Just thought I d post some GOOD news. Usually I come here only to ask for help when something FUBAR's.

Have a great weekend,folks.

Glad to see that MGP Brad.

Was that at posted speed during the Washington miles?

I once got almost 22 mpg on a decently long trip, but along backroads, flat country, no wind, and 50 mph for the most part. I was very surprised, but it gives me a goal to match again, since my wife was driving at that time... 19.1 at highway speeds is amazing!

Mine also seems to get it's optimum mileage between 45 and 50 mph with the c.c. on.

Technically I could hit 19mpg (in warm weather) but can't drive 45-50mph!!!
My 12 mile commute is mixed back roads & highway but the rolling hills bring me back to an avg about 17 if I keep to CC & don't drive much town.
Reality is 15 year round avg as I lose 1 mpg in cooler weather.
Bone stock with a medium lug tire; nice hwy tire I hear brings us a full MPG- but is it worth is to lose 1/2 your snow/mud capability? Not for me.
My daily driver is a 09 RAV4 V-6 that does a real world 28 mpg!!!

Certain stretches across the high desert to the sierras you don't have any choice. Chippy speed traps all over the place. Lots of one horse towns to slow you down or get your money.

with the cruise control on 55, my van gets 20.0, and it's 10,500#

flat and level tho....... the 55 is the thing... your static air pressure
on the front of the rolling brick kills the milage.... 70 with a cruise
control on, same road, is 12.5 mpg.

so, a one hour drive, takes you about 1:15 or so, so you save 15 minutes,
and that savings of 15 minutes uses 2.6 gallons... so at $4.50 a gallon,
you spent an extra $11.70 PER HOUR.

so lets look at a ten hour trip..... 70 X 10 = 700 miles = 56 gallons of fuel.
and then the 55 miles per hour... 35 gallons of fuel

so the same distance cost, at $4.50 per gallon, $94.50 MORE,
and driving slow takes 12.75 hours to go the same distance...

so, the 2.75 hours you saved cost you $94.50.

divides out to $35 an HOUR for each hour saved.....

how much is your time worth?

Especially if you enjoy the trip. I have found that driving my truck is a joy on long journeys. Much more so that my Subaru. Take your time and save fuel. Sounds good to me.

I really have to agree with you I went from a 2002 Ranger Edge to the
2006 F350 and I find that it is so much better to drive and I really
liked driving the Ranger and it a cold day in hell when I pick my mom's
Toyota Camry. Just too small and low to the ground.
