passing gear adjustment

Anyone have any tips on how to properly adjust passing gear?

You can adjust the passing gear?

Do you mean the kick down from 3rd to 2nd? Or do you mean your fuel mixture to get the motor running better?

When the carb is wide open, the linkage to the tranny should be at full travel. I can't remember if it was you are someone else, but we were just talking about how important it is to get someone to hold the accel to the floor while you shine a flashlight down the carb and make sure it's wide open. That would be the first step. Then make sure the tranny linkage is at full travel at the same time.

For anything other than an AOD, the factory manual says "The carburetor full-stop must be contacted by the throttle linkage and there must be a slight amount of movement left in the downshift linkage."
