What would have my front seat looked like? 1974 Supercab XLT

I own a 1974 Ford F350 Supercab XLT Camper Special. My family actually bought it new in 1973.

My truck currently has some bench/bucket seats in it and I want to go back to stock.

I found a set of split bench seats out of a 78 or 79 truck.

I need to get them reupholstered. What material and color combination would have been used? In later years there often seems to be a mix between vinyl and cloth inserts. I have found plenty of pictures of the stock trim from a 1974 brochures.. Would the seat have looked like this when the truck was new? I guess I am asking if the XLT trim would have changed the way the seat looked from this stock picture.

First off people are going to need to know the color combination on the body. What color(s) inside and outside?

The only people that will know for sure are the ones with the 1973/79 Ford Light Truck Parts Catalog (mikeo0o0o0, jermafenser, myself and ?).

The exterior color(s) doesn't matter because the same upholstery could have been used with all sorts of different colors.

Example: Blue, white, red, black, green, tan exteriors could all have tan interiors.

Post the BODY code stamped on the Warranty Plate, located on the left door face below the latch.

When decoded, the color(s) and type of seat material(s) will be known.

smsautofabrics.com located in Canby OR has original upholstery.

I dont think the outside color will dictate the style and pattern of the seat.

Okay thanks i will try that. I know i looked it up before but didnt thinkit said anything. I guess i thought maybe the xlt badge would define the style of seat/material.

my supercab, that I sold, and am now hoping to get back, had the exact same identical interior to that once in the brochure. buck skin tan vinyl, rear folding bench, split front bench, etc. it was a custom f150.

The tan color I have in my 74 is called medium ginger, I also think there is a sand. Best place to get upholstery is National Parts depot. If it says C4 under body on your tag it is Ginger. Good luck.

There is no C4 BODY code listed for 1974. NPD doesn't make upholstery, they buy it from SMS.

To clarify I meant NDP has the best upholstery selection (that I could find). As far as the decoding, my truck is as follows, WB-133 Color- my Type-f107 Body-C4 Trans-G. As far as I could find C4 is medium Ginger?

I looked in four different editions of the 1973/79 Ford Light Truck Parts Catalog, no BODY code of C4 listed for 1973, 1974 or 1975, but...

You've listed the BODY code incorrectly, it's C 4 / Blank space between C 4 makes a difference.

C = Medium Ginger Vinyl & Medium Ginger Cloth / 4 = Styleside Pickup.

You are correct about the space, I just looked again. The 4 on this link stands for Black vinyl (for the floor I assume) Thanks for the clarification.

That's not correct. You're looking at the code wrong. The last digit in the code (usually a "4") denotes back of body equipment, in this case it is a "4", that stands for styleside pickup bed.
The body code is three digits, he first two are for interior trim, the third, like I said, is back of body. In your case the code is "C blank 4" not C4.

BS!

No truck of this vintage that came with cloth upholstery would have come with a black mat, unless original purchaser so specified.

Truck would have come with carpeting.

TWO digit BODY code: 4 as 2nd digit = Styleside Pickup.

THREE digit BODY code: 4 as 3rd digit = Styleside Pickup.

Some people assume that Fordification info is correct, because they claim info is from Ford parts catalogs.

But that's a lie .. because some info for 1967/72's, and especially for 1973/79's was taken from the POS Red Book, an abomination sold in book stores that has a gazillion errors and omissions.

Their 1973/79 VIN decoder info is laughable! Engine codes listed that were only used for Passenger Cars. FE engine codes listed for 1977/79 (FE engines cancelled at the end of the 1976 model run).

F100 4WD series codes mixed up with F150 4WD series codes, some codes invalid, some missing. It's pure unadultrated CRAP!

I have found their codes from google searches on stuff and found some very wrong info on stuff as well. I take it with a grain of salt. Usually its one of the first things that show up on a google search so I use it as a starting point.

Gotta love NumberDummy I'd rather someone give an honest and knowledgable assessment than a guess or worse!
