1994 F350 with Dana 60, how many shaft seals?

Hi,

It's been a while but I'm back. I have a 1994 F-350 (460 BB) with what seems to be a Dana 60 up front. It started to leak fluid on the passenger side shaft a while ago. Now it's so bad that if I park the rig for a few days it will drip and Wife is not to peachy about that. Just before I go ahead and dig in, how many shaft seals does the D60 have per shaft and would I need any special tools (from Lisle, OEM, etc. or homemade) to replace and install the seals?

Thanks!!

i believe the axle oil seals are inside the differential. there are seals at each knuckle but i think they are to keep debris and water out of the axle tube.

Yep, one seal for each axle, accessed through the diff cover. It is a PITA to drive the new seals in straight. I have had a helper with a hammer on the end of a long bar going through the axle tube while I guided the end against a seal driver.

Thanks for the replies!!

So, my luck, it's the longer side... I suppose that a long threaded bar with a makeshift slide hammer on one end and someone else to either spot or hammer would do the job? Is there any thing I should be careful with? Would I have to do anything with the shim and backlash stuff or just putting all back in place as was is ok?
