slave cylinder broke....AGAIN

Damn guys, wth am i doing wrong. Installed a rockauto one back in july/12. Broke the slave in september. Installed a slave only, and couldnt get it to bleed right, so i installed the original one..(replaced it since puting in new clutch assy), so that lasted a month. Slave broke this morning. Went to Napa, got new slave ,but can not bleed it, also, it seems when i install it in the tranny, it just doesnt seem snug, it moves around..ALOT.

WTh AM I DOING WRONG ....thanks guys.

minor bent shift fork?

I know there is a pre-bled master/slave combo from one of the parts stores that uses metal housings instead of plastic. When I replace mine that is what I am going to go with. Also, I know one of the available replacements has the wrong length rod in it. Do a search for master/slave replacement on google and look for a link to a thread on powerstroke army, it has the details and I dont have the time right now to go look it up and repost here. I'll try to remember to do it later so that the info is on here as well.

How is it breaking?

The slave should snap in tight in the bell housing and have no movement. If yours is loose and wobbly, I'd start there in the search for your problem.

Not sure how their breaking, guys. Are they that difficult to install to where i'm not get'n them fully seated?

I got the new/replaced slave assy from NAPA, which is now, HOPEFULLY bled. Was able to cruise around the block a few times and seems to go in gear good, a little spungy, but it wotked. They (napa), have a new m/s assy on order which will be in tomorrow. With having a lifetime warranty on the slave, they'll "prorate" the price for the new one. I'm thinking about going that route for the sake of sanity. ALSO, the one i purchased from ROCKAUTO was lifetime warranty, so that one got shipped out and new's in the mail

What would you guys do, try the bled one or wait til tomorrow and buy t5he new complete assy?

Perfect. Glad you found the right thread. Hopefully a moderator doesnt get upset about the link to another forum given it truly is good information for those of us with the good old hand shaker.

Interesting info about the aluminum housing parts. The plastic housing has never broken on me, but the different engagement point on the pedal sounds interesting. It seems like he's talking about the rod on the master that is poorly machined and different. I wonder if the slave rod is a different length as well?

They're not hard to install. Stick them in the hole in the bell housing and give them a 1/4 turn until it locks into place.
