What would be a good replacement carburetor at an affordable price.

What is the matter with yours? If you think you need a different one, why not an original 8RT? Yours may not have the hand throttle as this does.

I don't know what affordable is to you ,but Red's is offering brand new Edlebrocks at about $385.00 .

A restored "correct" USA carb is less than 200.

C&G Early Ford parts in Escondido CA has a new one for $295. They also can rebuild yours if all the parts are there for around $210.
