02 ESCAPE WINDSHIELD WASHER PUMP PROBLEM
Hey folks.
Great forum.
Searched on this issue, but couldn't find exactly what I was lookin for..
My 02 ESCAPE's front windshield washer quit working.
The back one works fine.
Pump does not activate at all for the front.
Could this be a fuse or relay? (just guessing based on other posts)
Thanks for any suggestions.

It could be the switch, the motor, or the wiring. The pump runs off the same fuse as the front wipers and there is no relay in the circuit. If the wipers work, the fuse is good.
Disconnect the electrical connector at the pump and check for power at the TAN/RED wire when the washer switch is activated (key in RUN). If power is present, the pump is bad. If not, it's the switch or the wiring.

if the "BACK" washer is working, and the front is not, does that mean that there are TWO pumps ?
one for the front and one for the back ?
or would that mean it's probably just the column switch ?
i am by NO MEANS mechanically inclinded enough to work on my WIFE's ESC, so i am probably going to take it to a mechanic, but i really want to know what's going on so they aren't just replacing parts until it's fixed and i'm BROKE...

NEW QUESTION / SAME PART
Which one should i buy ?
I went to the Ford Parts website and searched for the 2002 Ford Escape, found the part, (Part Number: 17664(WGE-299)). Price: $41.90
then searched that on Google with a whole list of DIFFERENT parts that were not for my vehicle as expected.
but one did catch my eye.
looked exactly like my part in the FORD parts diagram, but it was for a 97 FORD RANGER.
so i go back to the ford parts website and search on that.
it shows Part Number: 17664, without the (WGE-299). Price: $34.92
so i go to the INTERCHANGE GUIDE and look up 17664.
it doesn't recognize it.
then i try *17664*. no luck.
then i try WGE-299, it finds TWO hits.
one for the escape, one for the ranger.
when i look at the BUYERS GUIDE, they both show the escape, but NEITHER shows the ranger . . .
i would show you, but i dont have the privledges yet.
so should i take the chance on the same ford part number that is $6.98 lower price point ?
or stick with the one specifically called out for MY vehicle ?
thanks to all again for helping me out here.
