Push-Button 4x4

I have a '93 F-150. It comes with a push-button 4x4 that doesn't work. Having a hell of a time finding the switch as well as the wire harness. I found a switch from a junkyard but still no wire harness. Anybody know a good place to find a 4x4 push button wire harness? Also, is it possible to convert to a manual 4x4 (automatic trans w/ manual 4x4 actuator) sometime in the future? It's currently my daily driver but would like to make a project. I've heard that replacing an automatic transmission with a 5-speed can be very difficult. A 5-speed would be my preference.

Has anybody successfully replaced dissimilar transmission types? Other than cutting a new penetration in the floor, what all is entailed?
