2wd off-roader

im thinking of turning my 2wd truck into an offroad truck, but only 2wd. other than a lift and good tires, what would yall suggest i should do if i wanna compete with 4x4's? keep in mind iv been mudding plenty of times with this truck, just kinda tired of always getting stuck!

Get mudders, Aussie locker for rear. Add some D-shackles or tow hooks for when you do get stuck. Carry a shovel, hi lift jack and maybe some blocks of wood.

Then everything I just said with the strap, shovel, blocks, etc in a small pickup box to be thrown in when needed. Have some basic steel wheels with mudders to out on and dd some ATs or something.

Make it 4x4... That's what I did. Easy conversion.

Sounds like you ARE having trouble without a locker.

I'd add a winch, tree strap, and recovery straps to that list.

Easiest way is to buy a donor truck. I bought one with a blown engine and used the front axle, 4x4 transmission, transfer case, crossmember, and a different rear driveshaft from a junkyard since the donor's was a 2-piece. Just needed to cut a hole in the floor for the 4x4 lever. I also rebuilt the entire front axle, so that made the cost of the conversion go up a bit. Overall pretty straightforward swap.

Im also gonna lift my 2wd about 6 inches which is helps for clearence, and gonna throw some aggressive all terrains like the BFG all terrains or Cooper STs, since its mainly on the highway. If your real serious about muddin, then id go with mud tires like the KM2 bfgs. A rear locker would help alot as well. 1st off do you have a limited slip axle? or non posi?
