Angry my husband

ok so my husband bought a 1995 f150 5.0 and was told the only problem with it was an ECM. First question is what the h@#$ is an ECM? second if that isnt the name can you please help us figure out what is wrong with it? The battery is fully charged but will not turn over. Please help before I kill him.

When you say it won't turn over do you mean it will crank (rrr, rrr, rrr when you turn the key) or it won't RUN? The ECM is the engine control module or computer. It sounds more like the ICM the ignition control module if it just cranks.

ECM slides out the front side of the firewall not into the cab but its not the problem until after the motor rotates/fails to start.

Jumping the gun, get it to crank first then determine failure to start if it fails to start.

The ECM is not the reason for it failing to turn over, correct that issue first.

I would say pull the starter and either bench test yourself or run it up to your local autoparts store and have them test it. If it test bad start with replacing it. If it tests good replace the solenoid and all 3 battery cables( battery to solenoid, solenoid to starter, negative cable) Make sure the battery is grounded to both the block and the body.
