Front License Plate bracket for a 1988 F250

Hi all.

At some point in history (before I owned it), the front license plate bracket got torn off of my truck.

I've now put the truck on the road, and I have the plate propped in the front windshield. Unfortunately, that is a ticket waiting to happen here.

I've tried to find the 'correct' part, but so far, no dice. It looks like it had a bracket with two bolts through the bumper at the front, and another in the center down below.

Does anyone know where to get the correct part, or even if there's a generic adapter out there that would work in a pinch?

Just bumping this. I'll fabricate a bracket if I have to, but I'd much prefer to have the *correct* part.

Yeah, I've been keeping my eyes open, but there's not too many of these trucks passing through the junkyards here anymore.

I've been trying to locate a parts truck that has the bracket and the aluminum tailgate panel, but it's clear that the 'collectibility' of these trucks is going up. Not too many 'parts-quality' trucks coming up.

There are several nice looking aluminum tailgate panels on Ebay. One with red and one with black trim. Average price is about 290.00 shipped. You will win the lottery if you find one at a junk yard. Be sure to do the close ups on the pieces for actual condition. I have never seen one in perfect shape. License plate options are on there also. Sandy

Unfortunately, the red one is almost $550 CAD after international shipping and import charges, so it's more than I want to spend. Plus, it's pretty beat up. The black ones I see are for a Bronco (though a few truck panels have come up over time.

I'm curious what you've seen on ebay for a front licence plate bracket. I've searched periodically, but never seen anything that would work.

I saw them earlier and went back to look more closely and you are correct. I don't see our years for any of them. JY best bet for that I guess.

Some have used the newer version just fine. Its F2TZ17A385A and all you do is cut the tab off the back and it mounts like the previous ones. They are about 15.00 new on eBay.
