Driveline noise and play, need name of part
Hi there, I need a part for my '95 Ranger but don't know the name of it and the people at the part store can't seem to figure it out. It's a piece that's in between the two u-joints; it's a metal ball with needle bearings in it surrounded by rubber. Tried replacing the carrier bearing and u-joints and still making noise, plus I took this part out and it's all chewed up. If anyone could tell me what this part is called, it would be much appreciated.

If you're talking about the front driveshaft on a 4WD vehicle, then I think you are referring to what's called a "Double Cardan" joint. The later model Rangers used a CV joint instead.
Most people (even dealers!) don't realize that these joints have a flush grease fitting for the center and thus never lubricate it. = Slow Death...
And welcome to the forums!

Welcome to FTE.
If you have a super/extended cab Ranger with a two piece driveshaft, maybe your referring to the Center Bearing thats used to support the two piece driveshaft. It has some rubber vibration insolator material in it.
If thats not it, look on the Ford/Motorcraft web site & enter your VIN #, then look up the driveline pictorial & part number listed for your vehicle. Then look up site sponsors for stock & pricing on what you need. EDIT: http://www.fordparts.com/landing/motorcraft.aspx
