'71 F100 Build

That's not too bad. That looks beautiful compared to the '66 I did. There was about 6" of missing metal between the A pillar and the rocker on the '66. Just take it a little at a time. Here's where a sheet of 18 gauge metal comes in handy. You can make your own patches for the A pillar because they're mostly just flat.

I haven't really be able to get under it and poke around on the rockers much, but so far they look fairly solid. The only severe rust that I can see is what's already been eaten away. Once I get in there and start prepping things to weld in the floors, I'm sure I'll I have a better idea.

Now that I have a better idea of what I'm up against, I wonder what I should tackle next...

Like I said, this is likely to be the slowest build ever...
Since I had some nice weather today, I decided to take the front clip apart since I needed to replace the inner fenders anyhow.
This is what Nikki and I have accomplished so far...
There is a bit of rot on the radiator core support, but I believe it will simple to patch up. I'll try for a close-up on it later.

Here's some more pictures. I apologize for some of the shots - I'll replace them with better ones as soon as I can.
Rust on the radiator support...
Passenger side front cab mount
Today's progress...
Parts!
As I started uploading the pictures, it occurred to me that I ought to do the tie rod ends and front brakes while I have the front end torn up. There's lots of room to work under there now.

The daughter and I braved the chilly weather to go out and pull the driver's side fender. After taking a good look at the cab mounts, I decided that we wouldn't going any further until I have a chance to raise the front of the cab and support it. I think the only thing keeping it up at this point may be the inner fenders and the steering column.
Driver's side cab mount
Somewhat better shot of passenger side cab mount
I did get a chance to look at the backside of the rockers and they look quite solid. I'm hoping to be able to put jackstands under the rockers to support the front of the cab.
