V10 miss or slip.

hello all, I'm new to the forums so forgive me if someone has already had this problems but I looked for an hour and couldn't find a thread.

I've noticed a new problem the other day with the ol V10 Ex. it's a 2002, 4WD, Limited, 3.73 ratio, with 210,000 and purrs like a kitten everyday and I baby it when I can. Not getting above 2000RPM and keeping my foot away from the floor board and such, only time she every really sings is running to Emergency calls and such which are few and far between... however.

I noticed driving home a few weeks ago that going up hill on a reasonably normal grade. (considering I live in western KY) she missed or slipped 2 maybe 3 times at around 40MPH at 1300-1500rmp. felt like it was right at the downshift point. I put my foot in it enough to get her to downshift and she didn't hesitate. (and the word "Merica " rang out in my head upon hearing that throaty sound she always gives off on a downshift) It has done it on a few other hill since since I have now been alerted to it. I don't quite know what it is.

About year and a half ago I had almost all the coils go out so I replaced all of them and the spark plugs (pretty sure they where factory) I'm hoping you all know this issue of at least of it and it will be as simple as a faulty coil or something... thing is... as far as I know she hasn't thrown any codes yet... and it's only on certain hills and speeds.

I want this fixed before it develops, "I'm a fix it now person", not a "wait till something else worse breaks because of it."

ANY input will be greatly appreciated. thanks

Tranny searching for gear. Running rpm to low for it. Wants more gear for hill, or more throttle for gear it was in. Sounds more like just a 200k tranny looking for right spot. Fluid ever changed? Dont do it now if not.

I had the fluids changed back in July at my 50k which took 3 years to get to, I bought it at 160k from a dealer that said they did a full work up in it when they got it and I spoke the the two of the three previous owner that oh the most miles on it and they said they kept it maintained and such including the trans, and they where all Highway miles, so as far as I know it's had the trans services every 40-60k which I been told isn't a bad thing considering some people never do it in the vehicles life time. I just don't want to end up having to replace a transmission any time soon.

You'll be replacing that trans sooner or later. The best thing for you to do is let that V10 sing up those hills

210k on an auto is great. It has paid for itself.
