When I called in they didn't even ask me about splines. I gave them the year and model of my truck and they just said that I have a 2764NBS model....I just trusted them.

I assumed I have the 36 spline count and I determined that by taking a picture of mine and counted the splines between the two keys and it was 9 splines. I assumed I would multiply that by 4 to get the 36.

keys - that is the area that is flat and separates the splines into groups.

Someone correct me it that doesn't make any sense or I am wrong.

Ditto for me and I did ask. From what I have read all excursions are 36 spline it's the SD's that can be 32 or 36, not sure about the other model fords.

 

Only 99-00 can vary between 32 or 36 Amy other year there is a set spline count.

 

I think there may be a FEW people who actually "work" while @ 'work'.
OR don't have access to the internet - OMG could that still be true??

Just got off the phone, he was probably talking to James right before me while I was on hold...

I'm all set and ordered. 36 spline unit with a $60 discount!!! And he approved me to return the box from the wreck, so I don't have to get this job done in the next couple weeks.

Hopefully the last steering box I buy for it. Thanks to Joe and Stewart for coordinating this!
