Sounds like my FICM went

So my truck has developed charm over last week. Its been firing right up but then instead of making a engine noise it more less plays a drum solo and makes a smoke show.... other then that running perfect. Quick google telling me most likely FICM so guess I get to use my warranty next week goood time to break out Chevy too.

Could always be worse things go wrong with a diesel engine. Def not the most expensive thing either!

Wasnt it Dean that had posted awhile back about an upgraded ficm, that might be something to look into?

Dean is there any performance gain by getting this guy to rebuild it, or is it mainly just alot more reliable?

FICM Repair.com - Your Source for FICM Repair
This is their page for performance gains. I did the ecotune for mine I have zero turbo lag and i run it with my sct tuner with Matts at gearhead performance SRL tune.
I tell you this thing ROCKS! I have not had the nerve it takes to put my foot all the way to the floor! I look at my rear tires after a summer of pulling my fifth wheel and I can tell there is alot more torque on them!
Ya I will need new ones next year, anyone know of a good deal?

Good deal on tires? I dunno, I was looking to buy a set of good year dura tracs, and believe it or not, the cheapest I found was from tire rack, shipping them up here, and getting a local shop to install them. If I recall the end price was about 400 bucks cheaper then buying them locally.

Lots of people around here have them shipped to a small town just south of the border and then have the garage their put them on. Some people say up to half the cost going that route.

The dramatically heightened reliability comes from the upgraded parts in the premium service, but more performance is absolutely available from the PHP software tuning that we can do to it when we have it on the bench. The Atlas 40 tune is by far our most popular, but they all do a pretty incredible job of waking the truck back up and giving better fuel economy to boot!

Hope this helps!!

Can`t argue with better performance, more reliability plus getting better fuel economy!

Speacially the reliability factor IMO. Some motors need some extra help!
