Color doesn't bother me much. I have seen worse sell for more than his asking price on there. shrug

What I would call a 50/50 truck. "Looks good at 50' and 50 mph"

Have any of you guys ever been to a livestock sale or an old-fashioned auction? There's always a bunch of old guys sitting over to the side who are talking about how this animal isn't worth anything, or that tractor is no good, etc. In the meantime, the auction continues and the stuff sells for a price higher than expected. I'm beginning to realize that we are that group of old men. Yeah sure it's a rough truck, really rough. But look at the price already. The bid is pushing $4000 right now. And let's face it--working class people are going to be bidding on that truck. The rich collectors wouldn't look twice at it. And in this economy....more power to the seller. Hat's off to the guy.

Edit: When I read that description, it's almost like the seller is saying "Here is our truck. We know it's a turd. If you want to bid on it, go ahead". And people DO bid on it--amazing. My whole mindset is changing about these ebay trucks.

Never seen a purple monkey before.

My personal favorite are the engine mounts and the fact that the seller states that the frame has been boxed "around the weak points" in the frame, yet they failed to box it in the front around the new "custom" made engine mounts. He also did the next owner a favor by smoothing over the body lines between the upper and lower fenders. That's a classy touch, IMO.

Great plan, just bad execution.

So what you're saying is that we should paint our trucks purple and sell them right now?

But it's fun being a crotchety old man. Even those of us that don't consider ourselves old.
Doc is right, the price seems pretty good. Buy it now of $6500....what was that truck that went around $10K a while back...we were all shocked at that price... although the transmission leak would scare me a little.

If it was meadow green I bet we would look at it differently. When I was looking for a daily driver last year my wife and daughter said "We aren't buying a truck THAT color" on some colors, no matter what the price.

For the price some of these trucks are getting, I'd paint mine pink with purple poka dots if I knew they'd push up the bid like some of the trucks we've seen in the recent past on ebay.

Seeing this, I had to take a double-take.
I've talked before about a local guy who put his F1 on a 4x4 Ranger chassis, and had a snowplow on it. He drove it all Winter back and forth to work (my former job years ago), and he was the heavy equipment mechanic there. Anyway, it was about exactly like the color you see on that ebay listing. I guess you could include that purple color into the pastel colors that were all the rage back in the 80's/early 90's
