O2 sensor question (and some others)

My son (Archion) is building a new powertrain for his 86 F150. It is a .040 over 5.8L and a 4R70W. We have all the needed electronics and wiring needed. He is planning on using a Hooker true dual exhaust HOK-16665HKR from Summit Racing. The EEC is a BUG0 from a 1994 F150 5.0L with 4R70W. He plans on using a Moates Quarter Horse for tuning.

He does not have a way to put an H pipe in the exhaust and lives 4 + hours away from the only shop I would trust. The question is, can he get away with using only 1 O2 sensor on the right side like the 86 did? If not, is there a way to run 2 O2 sensors on this EEC?

Thanks,

Pre OBD-2 Ford truck EECs only used 1 O2 sensor for the most part(some Cali spec versions had 2) and I know from personal experience that even if that specific computer has 2 sensor inputs you can use a single sensor in the passenger header collector and feed both computer inputs with it, that is how my truck has been setup for more than a decade now and it's equipped with an Ford Racing MAF conversion kit which uses the dual sensor Mustang EEC. I also have a TweecerRT and have experimented with dual sensors, with the fuel trim data I was able to observe there was no significant advantage to dual sensors, both banks tracked identically which is what you would expect when all 8 injector are performing the same, so my conclusion was this wasn't worth the bother. I'd also mention that my truck has successfully passed tailpipe sniffer tests with both a cammed 5.8 and the current 5.0 under the hood using the same MAF control system.

Ok, the EEC is designed for one as built, it is from a 5.0L 4R70W F150. He lives in WV and since his truck is over 25 years old, no emissions test.
