PLEASE HELP!!! V10 ALTERNATOR PROBLEM!!!

I have a 2002 F 250 with the 6.8 V 10. I'm in the army and while I was gone I allowed my mother to use my truck to pull our horse trailer. The alternator went bad and a "family friend" offered to change it for her. In the process he pulled too hard on the wires and pulled them out of the plug. I have a new plug but don't know which wires connect where between the new plug and the truck. All the schematics that I can find including the ones ford has shows that this truck has 3 wires on the alternator plug. It is a 3 wire plug but this truck only uses 2 wires. 1 orange 12 gauge and 1 light green with a stripe. I have figured out that the orange wire goes through a fusible link and to the battery cables and the light green goes to the dash cluster. Like I said the plug is a 3 wire plug but this truck only uses 2 of them but I'm not sure which 2 leads on the new plug to use. Could someone with a 2002 F 250 with the V 10 please look on their trucks and see where to land the wires. I have a response from someone that has a 2000 V 10 but it's a different alternator. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

2003 Ford Excursion V10 here, have 2 wires going into the alternator plug, different colors though. One is orange with a black strip, the other is black with a light green strip. Plug has three holes, mine are numbered 1,2,3, orange is in number 3 towards the top of the alternator, black is in hole number 1 towards the bottom of the alternator. Hole 2 is not used hope that helps in some way

You had posted the same thing in the super duty forum. I posted pictures. Did you see them?

Here is the link.

Thank you for the replies....

Thanks to all for responding. I did follow the link and see the pics you posted. Everything does appear the same as on your excursion but still not sure. When I wired it like yours my cluster and gauges went crazy. My understanding is the light green wire is for the battery light/gauge so this makes me a worried. Hoping some others might be able to look at their trucks and we'll be able to conclude whether they were all wired the same or some different from others. Very frustrating

Can you describe what you mean when your cluster went crazy?

Typically when you disconnect the battery and then reconnect it and turn the ignition to the ON position, the instrument cluster resets and all the needles in the gauges does a sweep and the ABS light stays on for a few seconds before it goes out.

Not sure if that's what you're experiencing.

V10 Alternator

The speedo and tach peg all the way and dont come back to zero in the on position. And when that happens I find the Run/start/Ign fuse blown. Very strang. Thats what makes me concerned about that wiring configuration.

You may want to check if you have a chafed wire in the steering column.

Maybe someone hooked it up while you were gone and blew something?

I found this to help me rewire the transmission solenoid connector after removing a Banks TransCommand.

Hope it helps.
