Hello, I just recently bought a 96 4x4 F150 with a 5.0 V8. I was wondering if those SuperChips really work and are they worth the money. I'm pretty satisfied with the way it is now, but would like more torque and h.p. If anyone has tried one on this engine before please tell me about your experince. Thanks!:7

 

I have a 96 Bronco with a 302. I have considered doing the aftermarket chip but have not yet. I think it will help for top end power and better shifting but it will not help for low end torque. I am pretty much fed up with the lack of power so i am going to do a 351 swap. I'm not saying to do the same but i think it's the best way to go.

 

I appreciate the reply, I'll eventually try one of the superchips, but for now I'll save up for the K+N Filter system. Good luck with the 351 conversion let us all know how it goes.

 

I don't think the cost-benefit ratio is applicable for this. For the money you put into one you only get a bit more power, and it requires 91+ octane.

Spend your money on a good exhuast setup and/or ignition...

 

I wouldn't even spend my 170 bucks on a K&N, you can make your own easily wiht one of their filters, some PVC pipe, and some brains. It'll look better that way too. Put an exhaust on it, and put an MSD 6a ignition on, that'll help your low end torque a good amount.

95' F-150 XLT 4x4, 302, 5 spd, MSD 6A, Flowmaster American Thunder Exhaust, Sunroof, Clear corners w/ Diamond headlights, CD player with 2 10" subs and some 32" BFG Muds .
