I had a new FICM put in and the day I brought it home, the battery light came on. I had 2 6 month old batteries in the truck and I had the alternator checked, it showed bad. So, I replaced the alternator and recharged the batteries. The next day, after the truck warmed up, the light came back on again, so I had the alternator checked and it was bad. The two alternators were remanufactured, so I went and purchased a new one and the same thing happened. The wires have been checked and the battery connections have been checked and everything checks out good. What could be causing the Alternators to heat up and then fail? Help is needed. Thanks !

 

Where did you get the new alt. from? Get your money back and get one from ED at Ficmrepair.co.

 

I don't think I would have gotten 3 bad alternators. Has to be something else going on. Plus, after the first one, I had them tested before installation.

 

OK, are these NEW alternators or remanufactured alternators? I have had 4 bad remanufactured alternators in a row, right out of the box, from a national chain parts store. Have them checked BEFORE you leave the store.

Rule #3 of automotive troubleshooting: Never assume a new part is a good part.

 

Maybe your batteries are bad. A weak alternator can ruin a new battery.
