450 or 550 springs in my 99 F 350?

Ok I got my 99 F 350 v10 very cheap. I need a good chip truck for my tree service business and looking to put some f 450 or 550 rear springs in my 99 f 350. Of course I will be stiffening the frame as well at the same time I put the hoist and dump box on the truck. I am also switching it from srd to a dually set up with spacers for bigger tires. Figured i would have a lil fun with it while I get it all going.. Also with the spring swap i figure to prolly swap out the rear axle for the 550 or 450 dually axle. Has anyone done this sort of swap? Really curious to get some feedback from everyone.. Thank you all for the help..

Instead of trying to adapt springs from another truck, call a spring shop and tell them what you want to do. They will make you a set of springs.

In the past I have used Benz Spring Co in Seattle with wonderful results. They made up a set of heavy rear leaf sprigs for an old 70's era F-250 so it could haul a large slide in camper.

Why not just put airbags on it?

I'm sure you are doing this for the looks, because putting a bigger rear end with more tires will not raise the payload of the truck.

As for the bigger tires for looks? Of course its for looks. The axle? Alone the axle will NOT increase a payload for anything.. Springs? Those with a weaker axle doesnt really accomplish much. Be like putting 1 ton springs on half ton axles and expecting it too haul a ton. Now back to the bigger tires. My reasoning for them. I drive onto peoples yards with my 4x4 dually and have sank in the past. So yes the bigger tires are for looks but I am hoping that with a good all terrain bigger and wider it will help me overcome the whole rut issue. Thanks for the post though..

I will have to try to look them up on google. I originally wanted the 450 or 550 springs with the axle to go with so that I dont break my axle with 16000 lbs of wood chips. Still in the reaserch part of this whole project right now..

This wont be my first truck I have cut up chopped and re welded all back together. I am hoping for the best and prepared for the worst. Would be awesome for 450 or 550 springs to all bolt right in. But the 450 and 550 frames are thicker and taller so I am not sure how its all going to pan out quite yet. May have to cut the spring brackets off and replace those with 450 or 550 spring brackets. I dont know yet. Hoping maybe someone here may have done this. Here in WA. we now have to register all trucks with DOT if you haul more than 10000 lbs gross. So I am hoping to cut some corners and utilize what I already own..

What happens if you get pulled over by DOT and the truck weighs 16000lbs and it has a GVWR of 10000lbs. Cutting corners is not always a good thing. As was said before, a dually axle and wheels will not raise your GVWR.
