I have A few questions. I purchased a rust bucket and need body replacement parts, where can i purchase them. I am thinking a replacing the whole cab might be easier. Also, the two speed button dont work. Are they electric what is the easiest way to diagnose the problem.

To make a long story short, your '72 F600 basically has the same cab and hood as the '67 to '72 pickup trucks. Besides salvage yards, there are places that sell replacement body parts for these pickup trucks (i.e., LMC Truck, Dennis Carpenter, etc.) The fenders and grilles are pretty much F500/F600/F700 items, you would need to find a donor truck for these parts. For maintenance parts (brakes, tune-up, starters, clutches, waterpumps, etc.), NAPA carries quite a few parts for these older trucks.

I believe there are only two types of 2-speed rear ends, electric or air. Take a look at your rear axle, you should be able to see the 2-speed actuator on it (probably on the front of the axle, left side of the drive shaft). If electrical harness running to it, it's electric. If air lines running to it, then it is air operated. If the 2-speed isn't working, the easiest way to diagnose the problem - find someone else to do it .

OK, all kidding aside, that's pretty much it in a nutshell. Hopefully this gives you a start. Others may chime in with more particular information.

thank you guys very much for your response I may have misguided you. my truck is huge not a normal size pickup type truck. I was told it was an F 600 but I am thinking an LN600. it is a commercial truck with 11- 22.5 tures. It has a 3208 cat motor and rollback. The vin is r60uvp72224 weight 8600 lbs. It has fiberglass tilt front end. I just got it home and what a rust bucket but it runs great. The easiest fix might be a whole cab. I have no idea where to even start looking for doors and floor pans. I tried attschin a pic but my phone wont let me.

thanks once again. Unfortunately it isnt a run of the mill truck so body parts will be hard to find

 

All 500 series and larger Ford trucks were sold as a Cab & Chassis with 'no back of cab' equipment, just bare frame rails.

So, whatever body it has behind the cab is aftermarket, installed by the specific body maker.

 

Thats what i figured. fortunately the rollback is the only good part of the truck other than the running gear. I dont even know if there is enough good metal to weld new metal to. Just like an f series, cab doors and floor are toast.
