water pump , crossover?? , 'T' tube is bad- no idea what it is

There is some sort of tube that is a ‘T’ off of the water pump on my 2001 Ford 4.2 V-6 . The moonlight mechanic I had do the work of changing the water pump said the tube has a hole in it and he called the local auto store and they want $125 for the tube. I have no idea what he is talking about as I have never worked on one of these V-6’s. I assume is it a water crossover or something? anyway does anyone have a pic of what he is talking about and or a solution or at least a part number? Ther was also an ‘O’ ring of sorts that sealed this tube and he said the ‘O’ ring was junk too and if it is like most late model stuff it is most likely NOT a normal ‘O’ring, but probably flat or something???
My current work schedule has me getting home well after dark and no garage space right now. Thanx , crossy

On rockauto.com look up your 2001 Ford F-150 4.2L V6 OHV.

Then select "Heat & Air Conditioning"

Scroll down to "Heater Hose Assembly"

On DORMAN Part # 626211, click on "Info" to see views of the part. Maybe that is it. It has 3 hose nipples on it, and also a straight connector section that has an O-ring on it. The straight connector section has a bracket as part of it, looks like the purpose of that bracket would be to hold the O-ring connector pipe end into another fitting, probably the water pump itself, as a pic of the Pronto brand water pump shows a cylindrical recess like that.

I would call it a Heater return to water pump pipe assembly if I were naming it.
Rockauto uses the listing "Heater Hose Assembly" for just about anything that's related to heater hose, but is a pipe instead, or a pipe with captive hose on it. Just a generic callout.

great info and exctly what i needed. anyone got a number for just the 'O' rings. The mechanic said he fixed the problem but the 'O'ring is still seeping. I'll most likely order the whole assembly after i see his repair but i would still like to have an extra 'O' ring. thanx again , Crossy

You're welcome!

Since a new assembly comes with an O-ring, finding the proper O-ring aftermarket by itself may be fruitless. It is probably a dealer-only part (if you don't want "guesses", and want the exact proper part).

I would go in (in person) to the local Ford dealer's parts dept., and with the description above they can look up the part in a minute or two. They may have them in stock for when they change out a water pump. If not, they can order it, and depending on the area you live, it could be there the next day, or in a few days at worst. Just throwing a $ amount out there, maybe $10?

OK, plan’B’.
I got the new crossover tube yesterday and it has no ‘O’ ring. it appears from the tiny piece I got of the original that it was a special one with ribs on it. I’m GUESSING that is probably the flat style?? ANYONE have a part number on the ‘O’ ring. Appreciate the help so far. The dorman # I was given already saved me $80, but I don’t want to attack this without having at least one new ‘O;ring in my hand. Thanx , Crossy
