Current F150 owner-->Talk me out of buying a 2012 F250 6.7L

Spend a saturday test driving. Tell the dealer you dont know which you want. "Mr dealer i want to test drive a 3.5 f150, 6.2 f250, and 6.7 f250 (all in your chosen trim level)." That way you can feel the ride and see what you like. Really you have the best situation; just buy what you like. Most of us are crunching payload and other capcities tying to figure out what we need. You get to go buy whatever you like best! Yay for you!

I bought a new 6.7 this spring followed by my mother in law purchasing a new Eco Boost F150 this summer. Biggest thing that stands out to me is the steering and how much more responsive the steering in the 150 was. Ride quality on my 350 is pretty darn good if you ask me, only a little stiffer then the 150, but i do have the 170" wheelbase which helps to smooth out the bumps. If you need a new toy i would vote for the Raptor..........would have driven that home if i didn't need to drag 10k pounds behind me every time i left town. But theres no wrong answers here. And my 6.7 is a hoot to drive as well

I have owned 2 F150's and 2 F250's. One of the F250's was a diesel and my current one has a V10. I also have owned a dodge cummin's diesel. I loved all those trucks. They all performed great with really no issues. For me, having owned both gas and diesel and for how I use them. Gas is the way to go. Gas truck can sit longer without being used with little to no problems. Diesel needs to be used to keep its systems in good working order. Maintaince costs, The F250 gas will be similar to your F150, $35.00 for an oil change. Maintance on a diesel is way more expensive and more frequent. Diesel systems are just that way.
REMEMBER I AM NOT MAKING THIS A DIESEL OR GAS ISSUE, I HAVE HAD BOTH AND THEY BOTH ARE GREAT. JUST TALKING ABOUT WHAT MADE ME PICK GAS AND MAY GIVE YOU DIFFERENT VIEW.
If you want the look and feel of the bigger trucks then go for it. You only live once. but if you are wavering on either gas or diesel, I just want to give you some different things to think about, based on my experience with both. The gas milage with the diesel will be better but you will pay for it with the higher up front maintence costs. With the gas you will be filling up a little more often but the maintence will be lower. So in the end it will be up to what you really like, color, options, up front higher costs and higher costs later down the rode. Or more frequent gas stops and lower up front cost and lower maintence costs.
good luck !
