this is with the turbo diesel:
the truck:
93 f250 diesel/E40D/drw convert/4wd/3.55 ratio w/shorter tires for 3.84 effective gearing.
8k lbs empty (though,it's not a truck used much when just empty)
the economy:
1993 ford F250HD DUALLY CONVERSION Gas Mileage (chipper truck) - EcoModder.com
there's no way,he will ever get the lifetime average of just 4 mpg less than i do with the 460......well...i highly, highly, highly doubt it anyway.not when there are countless reports of srw pickup bed 460 trucks getting 6-8 averages.
honestly, his 7 is far better than my 14,compared to how much lower i am compared to srw pickup bed reports.he's only slightly under, and im way below the high teens diesel reports.
i feel his pain.you can't run a dump truck and expect the same as the guys running factory pickup setups.it's just the way it is.
they can make soooooo much more $ though, that it's actually far cheaper to run the dump truck setup, due to so many saved trips........just as long as your working 'er.
really,we must understand that with today's fuel prices.the 460 engine and c6 trans (though not in his truck) are two past drive train devices best left behind, for play,or just occasional use.both great for their time, but their time has kinda come and went.
