2011 18inch OEM wheels on a 2000 F250 SD

Ive been looking for new tires and maybe wheels for awhile but they arent cheap so I was hoping to find some newer take offs and save some money. I recently found a set of 2011 King Ranch 18inch wheels with new tires for $750. While I was searching on ebay ive noticed the same wheels are listed but in the postings the sellers say these wheels will not work on 99-04 trucks.

I looked on tirerack.com and it says both trucks have 8-170 bolt patterns

So why wont the newer wheels fit on the older trucks?

I think it has to do with back spacing.

The newer trucks have coil spring suspension while the older ones still had leaf springs. The newer trucks have more backspacing on the wheels that hit the leaf springs on the older trucks.

I went through the same thing when I bought my 2000 a couple years ago. I needed new tires ASAP. I found some killer deals on '05 and newer take offs. When I checked here on FTE I was told the same thing. The newer wheels have different backspacing and will hit the leaf springs on the front end. Some people run wheel spacers to offset them, but the good spacers are pretty spendy. Bummer because the newer trucks have some nice wheels.
