Blower/supercharger tech 101

Hey guys,

I'm finishing off a 460 right now in my truck. It's mild by the standards of many of the people in this forum ( probably a 375-400 hp build). I just acquired another D1VE core, and have a set of iron D3VE heads.

I am making plans to put a blower on this second engine. I have been searching through the Engine Build and Engine Tech threads for information on building a motor for a blower.

I know a little about building engines, but I also know what I don't know. AND superchargers are voodoo for me. Are there any comprehensive sources of information on blowers that this site, or other sites out there have. Books, Videos, ect...

Thank you for your time.

air in and air out!

more effort into getting the air out and proper header sizing. i believe its dyers blowers is another resource to check into. Been doing it for along time. upgrade all bolts and might just upgrade the con rods for insurance. detonation prevention if running pump gas is another thing to get educated on. power isn't hard to do but preventing detonation or preignition is another tricky thing. upgrade the ignition system also. my biggest issue is finding a decent tranny to hold up to this kind of torque on a regular basis. the zf tranny for big block ford is good for about 500ftlbs torque and i can do this naturally aspirated fairly easy. Built c-6 700ftlb tq but its a 3speed auto. cast iron 4speed will hold up pretty good in stock form. TCI builds a 6 speed auto for 800 ftlbs torque. AOD maybe 600ft lb torque for a little while but its built up, stock form 450lbs torque. some of these numbers are ball park estimation but they are close. any decent 460 makes 450/500 ftlbs torque easy, naturally aspirated. Add boost and just throw 100+ ft lb torque into the situation. so what i'm saying is have your tranny situation figured out because it will get expensive$$.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm still looking for books, tech articles ect that give a run down on the known issues.
