Help, Engine Sputters With Initial Start
Hi guys, new to the forum although I have trolled this sight for awhile and found a lot of helpful info. I have a 2003 6.0 250 ~160k miles. I have for the last few months been experiencing a rough, sputtering start when fuel is between 1/4 and empty, as if I am on empty in the tank. I fill up and never have the start up issues until the tank is at that level again. Any ideas what could be causing this, once it began I immediately changed the fuel filters but to no avail. I try to just not allow it to go below 1/4 tank, but I have a feeling there is more of an inherent problem. Has anyone ever heard of this issue, I have been searching sights and the only thing I have found is some post aluding to ICP sensors, but I am only experiencing this when low in fuel.

Yes, absolutely. At first I thought maybe the fuel float was acting up and I was really on empty thus the sputter, like it is draining the last of fuel to start, but now I know there is plenty fuel in the tank when this starts happening. Even been using the motorcraft additive but it doesn't seem to help. Now I am confused, is it some sensor issue, or is my tank full of gunk. I wanted to get some insight before I take it to Ford and they take me for my paycheck
